Was hoping to adopt but also noticed need for fostering. I am able to foster smaller female dog breeds and small senior dogs.
I am also semi retired and can transport. I live in Wolfville so valley transport a breeze but can do longer distances.
I have done home visits in NS for Bullies In Need from Toronto, also my sister Created and runs BOB ( Big On Beagles) In Toronto.
I was unable to open the application files on my computer.
Hi Tracy,
You are a wish come true! I need a foster home for Zena. Are you interested?
Hi… Do you have a registered charity number for donations?
Hi Kristine,
Not yet. We are working on it though
Hello there, im in Cape Breton, just wondering if you guys look for fosters down this way. and what is involved with fostering. like cost, length of time, transportation. etc. thanks!
Hi Stephanie
We don’t have any foster homes in Cape Breton but could always use one for sure. We sometimes need people to do home visits for us as well. We have adopted one little guy to a family in Cape Breton. I don’t think we get a lot of applications from there because we don’t have any dogs fostered in the area. We take care of all the vetting fees for our foster dogs. It would be your responsibility to feed an fosters you have. We can supply food but only if there is someone coming your way. Global Pet Foods donate a lot of food to us so we can give it to our foster homes. The time involved depends on the dog and who applies for him/her. The longest we had in foster was 7 months. The shortest was two days.
I am interested in becoming a foster mom. Do you have the applicaiton that can be completed on line? I am interested in Boston Terriors which I have experience in. Other than that, would take a small to med size dog. I live in Greenwood, N.S.
Hello. I live in Downtown Halifax and I would love to become a foster home. I can’t edit the application on the computer but have it filled out by hand. I’m unsure how to send this physical copy in however.
Hello!
I am very interested in fostering a dog and I am filling out the application. I have a few questions:
Am I to print it off and fill it out and then scan and email? Or do I fill it out electronically and email?
For the landlord consent: If I email my application, would contact information for my landlord be acceptable, or an email from him? Or is his signature best?
For the personal references: I’m used to family not being counted as a reference, so I have to ask! I have a family friend listed, but would it be best to reference my father or a work friend or boss?
Thank you so much for any help!
Hi Karissa,
You can fill out the application electronically and email it. We will contact your landlord by phone so just give us his phone number or email address. As long as only one reference is someone who lives with you then you can use your family friend, work friend or boss as the second reference.
Hi there! I’m a student living in downtown Halifax who originally was going to adopt a dog but instead I would like to help out and foster. Both myself and my roommate have cared for animals. I volunteered in a vet hospital in downtown toronto as well as having my own family cats back in Toronto. I dont have access to a car. Will this be a huge deterrent in being eligible to be a foster parent? Also, you stated above that you do supply food if youre in the area, which area would that be and would I be eligible for that?
Hi Kaela,
Transportation is usually not an issue. We have quite a few volunteers near the downtown core who could assist should it be required. As long as we have food donated (and it’s usually quite a bit) then our foster homes are supplied with it so no need to worry there either.
I as well would love to become a foster home for these lovable pets. I have a family that consist of me my husband and three beautiful children ages 11 and trim girls ages 9. We are pet lovers. We do currently own our lovable outside dog Rex. More for my husband because he is do strong he is hard for me and my kids to walk. We would love to foster small to medium size dogs if you need people. My children loves animals as well . Please let us know how we can help. We live in Yarmouth ns. Could go as far as the valley for transport . It’s so sad to see these beautiful creatures in the shape that they are and are deserving of families and a living home just like humans are.
Hi Rose,
Please fill out an application form and send it to foster@asdrescue.com

I am able to help with transport of dogs Digby to Halifax, I live in Kingston (Annop Valley).
That would be GREAT! We actually have a dog coming into care who will need to be transported from Yarmouth.
I was thinking about adopting a dog but being a foster home may be a good thing. Right now I have a female spayed beagle and also 3 miniature horses. I live in Mosherville hants co. Do you think there would be a need for a foster home in this area. I have no kids at living at home.
We can always use foster homes. Please contact our foster coordinator at foster@asdrescue.com
