  1. Is Bentley still available? I did see a notice that no more apps were being accepted, but I see him still listed as available……..

    • Hi Charlotte,

We have completed your references and are looking for someone in the area to do a home visit. Lilah Rose will not be available until after she is spayed. She was in heat so we need to give her a couple of months to recover from that before we can spay her.

      • Hello,
Do you sometimes leave the recovering/spaying up to the adoption family? We have experience with that and I can quarantee she will not get pregnant. There is no other dog in this house at this moment? Would you please concider, please??????
        Thanks!
        Charlotte.

  2. I have a bag of kibbles and bits three quarters full that my dog did not do well on and a half box of milk bones the minis ones that he does not like. I had to keep him on the dry food from Best Friends California Natural mixed with his puppy chow. So if any one can ick it up that would be great both were only just purchased last week. I live in Fairview and my number is 225-6777. I live at 104b Sunnybrae Ave. Thanks Sherry

  3. Hello,
I am interested in meeting the female beagles you have recently rescued. I would Iike to provide a home to one of these dogs, and would prefer a female, as I suspect it would be a better fit for our existing fur family :) . Please advise if this is a possibility…
    Thanks,
    Patti 678-6090.

  4. Just found your site!! So excited!!! Is Princeton still avaialble? If so where is he located? Thank you for your amazing work on behalf of ur furry friends!!

  5. Hi Heather,
Patti Norris here. I am inquiring about Bella again. Has she found a new home yet? If not, I will send in an application…:)
Looking forward to hearing from you,
    Patti

  6. Hi Heather,
Patti again…do you folks still have the application that I submitted for Bella? Obviously that application wasn’t successful, but I would be interested in meeting the two male puppies that you just put on the Facebook page if possible.
    Thanks,

  8. Hi .. we have been dog owners for well over 35 yrs, proud owners of a male pekingese, … female terri-poo, and 2 shitzu’s, all at different times. We are interesteds in possibly getting a new dog as our present schitzu is 16yrs old, blind and deaf, but we love him non-the-less. We are thinkinmg of either another pekingese, or possibly a chiuaua. If anybody knows of any of the styles of dogs becomming available, could they be kind enough to get in contact with me. Thank You very much!!

  9. Hi there,
My name is Nathan Hines and I’m very interested in Bruce the terrier/Jack Russell. Just a little over a year ago our family dog of 13 years passed away. I’m looking for a new addition to the family and I was hoping he was still available. Please contact me if he is still available and I will proceed with the application.

    Thanks.

  11. I recently got a puppy from a couple in Wolfville who had purchased a puppy in a parking lot in greenwood for 850.00. There is a whole deceitful back story to this that I found pretty shocking. The couple (who happened to be new to Canada) were given a phone number by some friends who had bought a puppy from a particular seller. The couple really wanted a pup, so they called the number to see if any pups were available – and were told yes. The couple said they’d be in touch after they checked that dogs were okay in their apt building.

When asked, the building manager told the couple that, no, only cats are permitted in the building.

The couple, deeply disappointed but respecting the building rules, called the puppy broker back to share the sad news. The broker is also disappointed, but nothing can be done. The deal is off.

Ten minutes later, the couple get a phone call from a blocked number: “Hello? Yes, I’m calling because I heard you want to have a puppy in your apt? Well, I’m your manager’s supervisor, and we’ve talked it over and decided that you CAN have a puppy. No problem!”

Elated, the couple call the puppy broker and arrange to get the pup right away. The broker wants to meet in a parking lot, and the payment must be in cash. $850.00.

The deal is done, but after getting the puppy home the couple start to wonder why the puppy is scratching so much, and shaking her head. She also has a really bulgy belly and diarrhea. They take her to the vet to find she has a pretty serious flea infestation, tapeworms, and ear mites… Not to mention her matted, coarse hair at the supposed 12 weeks.

On the way home, the couple run into the manager. The manager asks then why they have a puppy when he expressly told them it was forbidden. Surprised, the couple remind him that his supervisor overturned that rule and called to tell them personally. The manager retorts, “I don’t have a supervisor.”

The couple realize they’ve been duped, and they call the police. The police say they can’t do anything, although they admit that the puppy broker is “evil.”

The puppy has to go…she’s only been with the couple for 24 hours.

We adopt her, knowing full well that this baby might not make it. Had to do it.

Parking lot. Greenwood. Woman. Cash deal. WHO IS THIS?

    • Hi LeeAnn,

This sounds very much like the work of Gail Benoit. You can google her name and get lots of stories about her.

  12. I really should have mentioned that Saffi is doing great now (1.5 mths later). She had a couple visits to our vet, had her first and second set of vaccinations, a hair cut and nail trim, and some quiet time to recover from a somewhat harrowing start to her little life. Lately, she’s been enjoying puppy socialization classes and a tonne of love.

  13. How can we find out about the recently rescued dogs form California? I am in Halifax and would be very interested in more info about them.

  14. My Pug dog has recently died. I am looking at options for another dog for my home. I am a young senior who lives alone in my own home. I am thinking maybe 10 – 14 lbs. girl, preferably low to not shedding. I am not comfortably able to lift a large dog anymore. My Pug who weighed 24 lbs was the easy limit of my ability to lift him in the vehicle, coach & bed. Please let me know what may be available. Thank you, Pat

    • Hello Pat, we currently have a small Pug/Chi mix in care and she is not very big and is just delightful, but full of energy. If you might be interested, our applications can be found on our website. Thank you, Sandra, ASDR.
