I first started in rescue in 2000 when I became a foster for MAR and for ARC. Since then I have volunteered with CCRT as well as TPDR. I am still a member of Maritime Animal Rescue and Responsible Animal Rescue. It is a pleasure being part of a network of very professional caring people in rescue.
My husband, Eric, and I are owned by 8 dogs, including Wrinkles (Beagle), Ben (Poodle), Wilbur (Shih Tzu), Tawto (Chihuahua), Pip Squeak (Yorkshire Terrier), Casper (Chihuahua), Sacchi (Chihuahua) and Izabella (Chihuahua). My dogs grudgingly share their home with Beau, a feral cat who adopted us when he was a kitten. We are foster failures and love the synergy created by our pack.
Hi, I'm Danielle. I have been an animal lover from birth, and was always the girl who brought the local stray dogs and cats home. I did not start formally working for animal rescue until 2008 when I joined CCRT, and shortly after I joined TPDR. I have also done some volunteer work with the SPCA. I share my home with one dog, a long haired Chihuahua named Mason, but hope to add to my pack in the future.
Jo-AnnMy name is Jo-Ann. I have been involved in animals and helping
them for most of my life and joined the Lillian Allbon Animal Shelter
around 7 years ago. I have served on the board and have done adoptions in
the past until time restrictions didn't allow me to continue while working
full time. I have also helped transport dogs. I am a member of
MAR and Responsible Animal Rescue. I am also a 4-H leader for
sewing and miniature horse and donkey. I live on a hobby farm with 3 saddle
horses 2 miniature horses, 2 ponies, 1 miniature donkey, 2 calves, 8 laying hens, 2 cats
and 2 dogs; one is a Westie mix the other a Rottie mix. I would like to see
tougher laws for animal abuse mentally and physically. I also want to see
Breed-Specific Legislation (BSL) stopped.
My name is Julie, and together with Heather I'm a
co-founder of ASDR. I've been deeply involved with animal
rescue all my adult life. While living in Victoria, BC, I
fostered for and actively volunteered with no less than eight
different animal rescue organizations, many of whom I have
stayed in touch with since moving to Nova Scotia. I also
assisted on occasion with dog obedience and agility classes, and
was employed by the
Victoria SPCA.
Since moving to Nova Scotia, I have been very active with the
CAPS, acting as a quarantine
space and foster home for dogs and cats. I also assist with
fundraising efforts for this group and sit on the Vision
Committee.
My family includes my equally animal-obsessed husband, two
miniscule rescue dogs and one extra-large rescue mutt, zero to
two foster dogs on any given day, three foster cats, two older
inherited cats and a sickly orphan kitten who rules my heart.
Lots of animals means lots of work, but I cannot imagine a more
rewarding lifestyle.
NahleenMy rescue talents are transport, fostering, working with behavioral problems, grooming (did I mention that I am a groomer too), fundraising, artwork-posters, and many natural healing approaches.
